Percentage Change Calculator
How it is calculated
Subtract the initial value from the final value, divide by the absolute initial value, then multiply by 100.
Formula
Percentage change = ((final value − initial value) ÷ |initial value|) × 100
Worked example
If the initial value is 120 and the final value is 156, the signed difference is +36 and the percentage change is +30%.
When the initial value is zero
Division by zero is undefined, so this calculator does not show a percentage change. It still shows the signed difference, absolute difference and direction.
