How the difference is calculated
The total counts midnight-to-midnight calendar days. The calculator also shows the same interval as complete years, months and days, plus complete weeks and remaining days.
Calendar assumptions
Dates use the proleptic Gregorian calendar. Leap years and different month lengths are included. Time of day, daylight-saving changes, time zones and business-day rules are outside this calculator.
Worked example
From 2024-01-15 to 2025-03-20 there are 430 days, which is 1 year, 2 months and 5 days, or 61 complete weeks and 3 days.
When the end date comes first
The calculator still shows the absolute time between the dates and labels the direction. The signed day value in the API is negative when the end date is before the start date.
